Monuments to labor is a typographic series reimagining Soviet-era labor posters through a contemporary lens. Humanized letterforms perform the everyday work of a landscaper, spelling out “Scioto,” the name of the company that supported my family. By reviving and refreshing the imagery of labor, this work pushes manual work back into view, not as nostalgia, but as an essential and ongoing force that continues to shape our world. Through design, it repositions manual labor within contemporary visual culture, affirming its dignity, relevance, and enduring presence.
